Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Anil Baluni as its candidate from the Garhwal constituency. Anil’s name was included in the second candidate list of the saffron party.
Though the BJP leader was born in Pauri Garhwal of Uttarakhand, his official residences are in Nainital and New Delhi. Anil is one of the National Chief Spokespersons of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2018, he was nominated as a candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand.
Anil Baluni has also served as a member of the committee on Science and Technology, environment and forests, AIIMS Rishikesh, ministry of health and family welfare, Rajghat Samadhi committee, ministry of urban affairs and employment. Baluni has earlier been a worked as journalist and then walked into politics at the age of 26. While pursuing journalism , he was an active student in politics and always hung around Sangh offices in Delhi.
The iconic Sangh leader Sundar Singh Bhandari became governor of Bihar, due to his liking towards Baluni, Sundar Singh appointed Baloni as his OSD. In 2000, Baluni served as the state general secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha and in 2002, he filed a nomination for election from Kotdwar but was rejected.
The next chief minister who came in charge made Baluni in charge of a forest and environment task force and there he excelled doing things that brought him ample good press and the notice of India’s environmentalists. In 2012, he was chosen as the BJP State spokesperson. Then took the responsibility of media management in the 2014 Banaras Lok Sabha seat.
Recently the details regarding the assets the BJP leader withholds were published. As per the data, the Baloni has movable and immovable assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. His wife, who is a government employee too holds assets worth more than 1 crore.
