CNN was forced to go for a commercial break abruptly after anchor Wolf Blitzer appeared physically uncomfortable during his show Situation Room. He was in the middle of an interview with White House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin.

In the middle of the interview, Blitzer became increasingly uncomfortable and appeared to be choking back repeatedly. He appeared in a panicked silence as the White House member talked about the dispute in Colorado over Donald Trump’s appearance on the ballot.

The 75-year-old anchor struggled to contain himself for a full minute, and CNN cut his feed and left Jamie Ruskin to finish his final comment. Attentive listeners were able to hear sounds resembling vomiting in the background. The news channel then abruptly played a commercial break, cutting Ruskin off mid-sentence.

The show returned a while later but with Paula Reid, CNN chief legal affairs correspondent as the host. She continued the show by saying that “Wolf had to step away, he will be back soon”.

Later in a statement to the Washington Post, CNN confirmed that Blitzer was not feeling “100% while anchoring Thursday night. He looks forward to being back in the Situation Room and appreciates the well wishes”.

Later, Blitzer took to his X (formerly twitter) handle and confirmed that he is doing well. He said, “I am fine! Thanks for the well wishes. I’ll see you back in the Situation Room”.

Wolf Blitzer has been working with CNN for the past 33 years, and has been hosting the Situation Room for the past 18 years.

Several social media users wished speedy recovery for Blitzer. One user wrote, “I got worried when I saw you making odd expressions, straight to commercial,Knew there was a situation in the Situation Room.Your the best, take your time and come back even stronger”. Another one said, “Glad they released an update.  Watching him look queasy and then abruptly cut away was worrisome”.
