Is Ravish Kumar Joining Lalu Yadav's RJD?

After an X user posted on social media that former NDTV journalist Ravish Kumar is set to join Lalu Yadav’s RJD, the Magsaysay Award-winning media person has rebutted the news. The X user, named Aviinash Prabhakar Jha, posted the ‘rumour,’ attributing it to sources. After the Adani Group took over NDTV in 2022, Ravish Kumar left the media house and has since become a prominent independent journalist in India with more than 11 million subscribers on YouTube.

According to a screen shot shared by fact checker and journalist Mohammed Zubair, Ravish has denied the news by responding: “1000 per cent wrong.”

A staunch critic of the present government and Prime Minister Modi, Ravish, quit his long stint in 2022 – from NDTV after the channel’s majority share was taken over by Adani Group. NDTV hired him in 1994 and since then emerged as host of several flagship programs including Prime TimeHum LogRavish Ki Report and Des Ki Baat. 

Ravish was credited with coining the world “Godi Media” to refers news outlets serving the interest of the present government. The former NDTV journalist, who bagged several awards, has been an idol among many aspiring media professionals in India.

In 2019, Ravish was awarded the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award, becoming the fifth journalist from India to receive the esteemed award for excellency in journalism. He is also the recipient of several other awards, including the Ramnath Goenka Excellency Award in journalism for two times.
