Sudhir Chaudhary Tenders Unconditional Apology To Adivasis

Aaj Tak’s consulting editor and host of the show ‘Black & White’ Sudhir Chaudhary tendered unconditional apology to Adivasis over his recent comments. Chaudhary, during one of his show said that arrested former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren’s night in the jail would be like going back by “20, 30, 40 years like an Adivasi to the jungle”.

following this, for perpetuating such derogatory remarks, the Aadivasi Sena in Ranchi, a tribal group has filed a police complaint against the Aaj Tak anchor. This was also accompanied by huge public outcry on social media against the right-leaning news anchor who was in 2012 spent a judicial custody in Tihar jail in an extortion case and was later released on bail.

The controversial remark was made during his primetime show ‘Black and White’ which was aired on January 31.

Here is the full statement by Sudhir Chaudhary:

“I am pained to see baseless charges of insulting tribals directed against me. Criticising Hemant Soren does not tantamount to criticism or insult of tribals. My show focused on how tribal votes are being misused by rich netas. The short video clip being shared by vested interests changes the context of my story to give a misleading message.

I have always supported and respected tribals and they have always shown their love to me and my shows.

I”m not answerable to everyone who has a Twitter X account, but I feel it is my duty to explain myself to my adivasi brothers and sisters. If I have unintentionally hurt their sentiments, I unconditionally apologise to them.”
