Bismi Group Chairman, Valiyaveetil V A Yusuf Haji died at the age of 74. Yusuf Haji’s funeral will be held today at Muslim Jamaath Kabrastan, Kaloor at 4 pm. Yusuf Haji is survived by their wife P M Nafeesa and children V Y Safeena and V Y Shabani.
A eminent name in Kerala’s households, the group boasts of running a chain of business enterprises including home appliances, and hypermarts among others. The group’s story begins in 1975 when Yusuf Haji left his job to pursue his dream of being an entrepreneur. One of his first attempts at enterprises, “Bismi Gas” earned his a reputation in the industry, helping him to flourish in business.

It was in 2003, that the group started the home appliance business, one of the flagship enterprises of the group which created waves across the Kerala household market. With 11 Home Appliances branches in Kerala, the group possesses a stable place in the market with the efforts of Ajmal va.
The group launched its first Hypersmart in Alappuzha in the year 2015. It was later expanded to three more branches – in Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kochi. With more than 10,000 employees, the group today has an annual turnover of Rs 5000 million.
