After meeting the INDIA bloc partners in the national capital today, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the Opposition alliance will come to power with at least 295 seats. The Lok Sabha has 543 seats and the party or an alliance with at least 272 seats will be allowed to form the government for the next 5 years. Currently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his NDA alliance is completing a second term and the exit polls, coming out after the completion of the Lok Sabha elections today, has predicted a repeat landslide victory for PM Modi with over 350 seats.
However, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said the INDIA bloc is confident of winning at least 295 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and added that NDA would not win more than 235 seats in the election.
“One should not get confused by the narrative of the BJP. The INDIA bloc will win at least 295 seats. This is based on our assessment”, he said.
As per the state-wise figures released by the INDIA bloc to media, the alliance will get 40 seats out of 80 in the crucial Uttar Pradesh and, from Bihar they are predicting 22 seats.
