Celebrated across the world, New Year celebrations have always been a sight to see. From the Times Square Ball Drop in New York City to eating twelve grapes in Spain, signifying the twelve strikes of the clock at midnight, these traditions are a crucial part in starting the new year.

The first three countries to welcome the new year in the world are the Pacific Islands of Tonga, Samoa, and the Republic of Kiribati. Kiritimati Island, also known as Christmas Island, is located in the UTC+14 time zone.
At the other end is Baker Island and Howland Island, both uninhabited regions near the US that are the last places to celebrate the new year. Located in the UTC-12 time zone, the unique geographical positioning of these places leads to some countries celebrating the new year nearly 26 hours apart!
As everyone celebrates the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, it is essential to take a look back at the year and be grateful for the good memories and the not-so-good ones as well.
