NASA Shares Stunning Footage Of Artemis II mission From Lunar Flyby
NASA has shared stunning onboard footage from the April Artemis II mission. Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen flew Orion to a record 252,756 miles from Earth before reentering at 400,000 feet, enduring extreme heat, deploying parachutes, and splashing down safely off San Diego.
In the video, the US space agency captures the fiery plasma glow and precise maneuvers, leaving viewers in awe of the engineering and the crew’s safe return after their 10-day journey.
The onboard video showed what Artemis II’s return to Earth looked like from inside Orion as the spacecraft slammed into the atmosphere at roughly 25,000 mph.
The footage was captured during the crew’s April 10 return from the Moon, when Orion endured a high-energy lunar reentry before deploying parachutes and splashing down in the Pacific off San Diego. Artemis II was the first crewed lunar flyby in more than 50 years. At its farthest point, t
