As India completes its nineth day of Hangzhou Asian Games 2023, seven more medals are added to the count. Though no gold was bagged, the athletes have clinched three silver and four bronze.

Parul Chaudhary won silver while Priti Lamba settled for bronze as they raced to women’s 3000m steeplechase double podium. While Ancy Sojan made a historic move by clinching a long jump silver.

The 4x400m mixed relay team broke the national record and won silver. The quartet of Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi, Vithya Ramraj, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesan finished the race at 3:14.34 seconds creating a national record. While the Bahraini runners’ finished seconds before India, timing 3:14.02.

Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee won the historic women’s double table tennis bronze for India after their semi-final defeat. While Vithya Ramaraj had a memorable outing on Monday. The young sprinter has equalled the legendry PT Usha’s national record in the women’s 400m hurdles. She is now directly qualified to the finals.

The speed skating 3000m team also added two bronzes to India’s medal tally. Indian archers have made it to quarter-finals. The surprise result came in Kabbadi. Chinese Taipei held India to a 34-34 tie in their women’s kabaddi opener after taking a point in their final raid.

China continues to dominate in the medal tally, having 262 medals in the bag, including 146 gold. Japan and South Korea has once again swapped places. India holds steady at fourth place.
