"Enough Is Enough!"; NSUI Stands Against SFI Violence In Kerala (image@varunchodhary2)

The National Students’ Union of India took a “resolute response to the ongoing violence perpetrated by the Student Federation of India (SFI) in Kerala”. In a press statement released by the NSUI, the national President, Varun Choudhary was quoted as saying “enough is enough” and the violence will not be tolerated again. The press release released from the student wing associated with Indian National Congress (INC) said that the unequivocal statement by the national president emphasize the immediate need to call quit to the ongoing violence.

The death of Kerala student, Sidharth has landed SFI in scrutiny. Reportedly, Sidharth, a 20-year-old Veterinary was subjected to merciless torture. He was found hanging in the college hostel bathroom on February 18. According to the post-mortem report, deceased student went through extreme physical torture and some of the injuries on the body were two to three days old. Sidharth’s father accused the culprits to be SFI members. SFI denied the allegations.

Choudhary asserted that if SFI continue with the violent activities, NSUI will make sure that the student body “will not be permitted to enter the gates of Delhi University”. During a visit to Sidharth’s family, Choudhary engaged expressed his solidarity with those advocating for justice.

The press release said that the leaders sat in hunger strikes pledging solidarity and “unwavering commitment to seeking justice for Sidharth. Varun Choudhary joined hands with KSU President Aloshious Xavier, IYC Kerala resident Rahul, and Kerala PMC President MP Jebi Mather for the hunger strike.

Choudhary reiterated NSUI’s commitment to ensuring a violence free environment for students and citizens alike. He emphasized that “if SFI persist in its violent activities, it will face consequences, including restrictions within Delhi University”.

The press release said, the joint hunger by the NSUI leaders further underscores the gravity of the situation and the collective determination of the student wing in addressing the challenges posed by SFI’s action.
