FIFA, the international association football competition, has announced that it has banned vuvuzelas and other loud noise-making instruments from the FIFA World Cup 2026 Venue in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Many soccer fans looking to bring the cheering objects to the World Cup 2026 venue will have to drop the objects, including plastic horns, and other instruments that emit laser beams, laser pointers or similar emissions. The ban applies across the four countries that host the World Cup in its  stadium code of conduct.

Vuvuzelas, a horn made with a long plastic shell, are a staple of South African soccer matches and took the world by storm at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. But the instrument drew criticism over their monotonous droning sound, often likened to a swarm of bees.

The international sports governing body has also imposed a ban on the whistles, air horns and other excessively loud noise-making devices are prohibited from all 16 World Cup venues.
