Pakistan national cricket team has arrived in Hyderabad for participating in the ICC One Day International (ODI) World Cup. This is Pakistan cricket team’s first visit to India in seven years.

The Pakistan squad that left Lahore in the wee hours of Wednesday reached Hyderabad from Dubai after a nine-hour layover.

Pakistan will play a warm-up game against New Zealand on September 29, and then they will begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6.

The first delivery of the tournament will be bowled on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, one of the world”s biggest sports arena. The same stadium will also witness the highly anticipated India versus Pakistan clash on October 14.

Before the team left for India, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that it has successfully negotiated a three-year central contracts deal with its senior players that will run from July 1 2023 to June 30, 2026. As many as 25 cricketers will be offered a momentous deal that will include a portion of ICC revenue, a statement from the PCB said.

“The list of players will be divided into four categories with significant increases in monthly retainers. Revenue from ICC will be incorporated in overall monthly remuneration,,” the statement added.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam called the deal “a historic deal”.

“I am extremely happy and satisfied that we have reached an agreement with the PCB. It has been a lengthy and, at times, challenging negotiation process, but I believe we have reached a fair and beneficial agreement for both parties,” he added.
