Internet Divided Over Pro-Palestine Pitch Invader

As the nation is caught up in the heat of fierce battle unfurling in Narendra Modi Stadium, an unexpected incident took place at the stadium with a pro-Palestine supporter approached Virat Kohli while Kohli was on the pitch batting against Australia.

The cricket fan was wearing a mask made of Palestine flag. He was wearing a jersey with “Stop Bombing Palestine Free Palestine” written on it.  He breached the security cover and approached Virat Kohli during the match, hosted by Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat. The man tried hugging Kohli, but the cricketer tried to push him away.

The man was identified as John and was taken to Chandkheda police station. In a video footage by ANI, he was seen answering reporter’s questions about himself and said his name is John, he is from Australia and he entered the stadium to meet Virat Kohli.

 

The internet is divided over the incident. While some raised questions about the intruder being taken to police station, while some other believed he should be taken care of for interrupting the “Kohli concentration momentum”.

One user named Hitendra Pithadiya, called Mr. John “the real hero”.

 

 

Another user wrote, “tell him, he’s our hero”.

 

 

One user was angry over the Mr. John breaking the “Kohli concentration and momentum”. He said proper interrogations should be done by the authorities as the pro-Palestine supporter is not an Indian.

 

Another user named Broufus questions the reason behind the intruder’s arrest and asked to “let him go”.

 

One Pooja Sangwan asked “Australia apna Kangaroo Sambhal (Australia, take care of your Kangaroo)”.

 

 

The user has been several post about the issue calling the issue to be a security lapse. She said the person is “propagating a clear agenda of “Free Palestine” in front of such huge crowd” and called the person as “anti national”. The user also asked Ahmedabad police to “take a not”.

 

Another user wanted to “show him how Indian police treat these people”.

 

One user named Xavier Selvakumar said he “support” John.

 

Another user called Mr. John a “beautiful man” and said “proud of him”

 

Kaddu Singh said “say not to #Gaza” and used #StandWithIsrael.

 

Another user cannot comprehend why John was bale to “go against Israel”

 

Another opinion on the incident was that, “Australian team used him to distract Kohli and get him out”.
