The 40-year-old shot-stopper, whose real name is Josimar José Évora Dias, went viral after producing a sensational performance against Spain in Cape Verde’s historic World Cup debut, helping his nation secure a remarkable 0-0 draw on Monday.

Within hours of the final whistle, Vozinha’s Instagram following skyrocketed from fewer than 50,000 followers to an astonishing 5.3 million, making him one of the most talked-about footballers of the tournament.
Facing one of the strongest teams in world football, Vozinha delivered a goalkeeping masterclass against Spain. Ranked 67th in the world, Cape Verde entered the match as massive underdogs against the second-ranked Spanish side.
Spain dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities, registering 27 shots and seven efforts on target. However, Vozinha stood tall throughout the contest, making seven crucial saves to deny some of Spain’s biggest stars.
His most memorable moments came late in the first half when he produced a stunning sequence of stops against Ferran Torres, Pedri and Aymeric Laporte. His heroics frustrated Spain and helped Cape Verde earn the first World Cup point in the country’s history.
