“My Marks Will Matter, Not My Facial Hair”, Prachi Nigam Shuts Down Trolls

Prachi Nigam, the UP Board Class 10 Topper has been making rounds on social media since she secured the top rank in the state board exams. The teen from Sitapur cleared her board exams with a stellar 98.5 percent marks. However, her success was tried to be negated by the trolls targetting her with sexist remarks over her physical appearance. Some even went so down as to manipulate the teenager’s photo to match her to the standard societal beauty standards.

In response to this, Prachi Nigam remained unfazed and stayed focused on her aspirations. The class 10th board topper was brutally trolled over her facial hair which was shared by media breaking the UP board result news. In response to this, Nigam said, “My aim is to become an engineer and what will ultimately matter are my marks and not the hair on my face.”

What matters for Prachi is her accomplishments and studies. The young girl who barely noticed her physical appearance before the trolls came in said that it was only where people started trolling her for a published photograph, she noticed it otherwise this was never been a problem for Prachi.

Responding to trolls Prachi remained confident and is happy over the recognition she received for being a state board topper. She added, “I am happy that my success is now my identity”. Her family, teachers, and friends have always supported Prachi instead of pointing out her physical appearance. Prachi said, “ My family, my teachers, and my friends never criticized me for my appearance and I never bothered about it either”.

Giving a befitting reply to the trolls the state topper stated, “Trolls can live with their mindset”.

However, Prachi on the one hand faced trolls but she also received support from scores of social media users who condemned the trolls and lauded her outstanding performance. Even healthcare professionals came out in Prachi’s support by describing the problem as a health issue and not a grooming problem.
