Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa became first Indian chess player to enter World Cup semis after legendary Vishy Anand as he defeated another Indian Grandmaster Erigaisi Arjun 5-4 via the sudden death of the Fide World Cup chess tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan on Thursday.

In the semis, the 18-year-old Praggnanandhaa, a chess prodigy who became an international master at the age of 10, the youngest at the time to do so, will face off against American Fabiano Ca­ruana.

World number one Magnus Carlsen has also made the semis.
