An old interview with Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn, is now going viral on social media as he predicts the elimination of 9-5 jobs by 2034. In an interview with an entrepreneur, Hoffman stated that human jobs are about to be replaced by Artificial Intelligence which would make 9-5 jobs a relic in the future.
On the X platform Neal Taparia, a popular entrepreneur, shared a video of Hoffman foreseeing the plight of people who will not have a job in the coming years.
Your 9-to-5 job is dying.
By 2034, it’ll be extinct.
That’s Reid Hoffman’s latest prediction – the founder of LinkedIn who predicted the rise of social media in 1997.

Since the clip was sprawled out to the public, excitement floods as he had correctly predicted the rise of social media in 1997 as he had called the AI revolution years before the arrival of Chat GPT.
Hoffman’s past predictions are spooky:
• Predicted social networks would change the world (LinkedIn sold for $26B)
• Saw the sharing economy coming (Early Airbnb investor)
• Called the AI revolution years before ChatGPTSo we should probably listen to his latest prediction: pic.twitter.com/7CzIyMuRiO

He said that regular jobs in the future may extinct and the free-lance space is yet to explore in many niches. Freelancers would earn more than permanent employees as the job interviews, resumes and CVs may become superannuated in the coming years.

In a podcast glimpse, Hoffman detailed that artificial intelligence has already gained momentum and becomes a growing challenge in transforming corporate operations from human space to the AI world. Since it is used in hospitality and various restaurants, there is a chance that most would get affected by its outgrowth, but the experience of meal sharing and culinary will continue as human-based tasks which are accepted as a central category.
