The renowned American computer scientist Dr Fei-Fei Li who also known as the ‘godmother of AI’ has established a start-up and has valued more than 1$ billion in just four months, as per the Financial Times. The World Lab start-up is intended to make AI capable of processing human-like visual data. The company hopes to give AI advanced reasoning capabilities just as ChatGPT but more specifically in terms.

The start-up carries two funding procedures the latest was of $100 million partnershiped by Andreessen Horowitz and Radical Venture (Li’s partnership venture). Fei-Fei Li was working at Stanford as a director at the HUman-Centred AI Institute and began the AI start-up on her sabbatical.

Wolrd Lab start-up is on a mission to develop a three-dimensional physical world model to construe different dimensions of several objects and their purpose, Li told the Financial Times. The new development would round off different AI capabilities using the ‘Spatial Intelligence’ concept in various fields such as robotics, augmented reality and virtual reality. If everything goes well the start-up acquires the potential to benefit the healthcare and manufacturing fields.

Fie-Fie Li was born on July 13, 1976, and was known for her ImageNet establishments that enabled swift advances in computer vision in the 2010 era. She also contributed to Twitter as a board director before it was purchased by the tech mogul Elon Musk. She is the Sequoia Capital professor of computer science at Stanford University.

Li was named on the 100 AI Most Influential People list in 2023 and received the Intel Lifetime Achievements Innovation Award for her valuable contributions to artificial intelligence in the same year. Later her contributions expanded to AI in healthcare collaborating closely with Standford University School of Medicine professor Arnold Milstein. She has written several books related to AI,  Architects of Intelligence in 2018  and The World I See in 2023, a journey through her life and the path of Artificial Intelligence.
