IBM Kicks Off First GenAI Conclave In Kochi; "An Era Of Digital Excellence", Say Attendees

Eminent international and Indian technology experts, innovators, policymakers, industry leaders and distinguished senior academia from the AI, defence and software domains participated in conducting various sessions. Over 1000 delegates attended the event marking a significant step towards establishing Kerala as a major AI hub.

IBM (International Business Machines) the global IT and outsourcing company has kicked off the first GenAI conclave in collaboration with the Kerala government at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi on Thursday. The event is scheduled for 2 days July 11, and 12 with the notion of providing information on the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the event and announced that the state is set to introduce AI education, starting from the school level, to educate students about the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence and its future implications. The government has found there are great opportunities to be utilised in the educational sector and Kerala looks forward to reining the industry with the integration of intelligent digital technologies into various sectors, he added.

Apart from that, he raised concerns about the potential misuse of the technology as he stated that the approach should cling to its positive aspects and people should use Gen AI, with careful indication of applying Gen AI as the bright light by leaving the darker shadow aside, he alerted.

Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev expressed his views on GenAI and its grandness, while M.A . Yusuff Ali (vice chairman of NORKA Roots) extended his words on the business opportunities and possibilities in the niche felicitating the event. Other dignitaries such as Dr Ratan U (IBM), and Paul Antony, chairman of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation have also shared their impressions about the conclave.

Interns and employees from various IT organisations attended the event and they see the future of GenAI as a gateway to opportunities in the digital field. Mehrin,  a NET developer from Voleegro Solutions LLP in Kochi, who witnessed the event as an attendee, shared her feedback as she emphasised the importance of AI, highlighting its potential in sports and education, and the opportunities it presents for the future.

When she was asked about its privacy concerns and scrutiny, she said that our country has various types of digital technologies and laws to mitigate the consequences, as we consider the inclusivity of Gen AI exploring its benefits in the digital era. Swathi and Meenu, both web developers, endorsed her statement by adding that people never miss a chance to learn more about AI and that’s why they came to attend the two-day event, which would cater to their future professional development.
