Here Is A List Of Countries That Have Banned DeepSeek Over Security Concerns
Several countries, including India, the US, Australia, and Taiwan, have banned the use of DeepSeek the Chinese AI chatbot on government devices due to security concerns.
The countries are worried that DeepSeek could expose sensitive data to Beijing, posing a national security risk. They have expressed concerns over the chatbot’s security and data practices, especially on government devices.
In India, the central government has prohibited its employees from using AI tools and applications like DeepSeek and ChatGPT on office computers and devices. This decision was made citing “risks for confidentiality of Govt, data and documents”.
Similarly, in Australia, the government has banned DeepSeek from all government devices following advice from security agencies.
The decision was said to be due to concerns over privacy risks and potential malware threats posed by the Chinese AI program.
The US has also restricted the use of DeepSeek with the American Navy prohibiting its use “for any work-related tasks or personal use.” Texas was the first state to ban the Chinese AI app, citing concerns over data security.

Taiwan has also banned the use of DeepSeek, classifying it as a Chinese information and communications technology (ICT) product that poses a national security risk. The restriction applies to government employees, public schools, state-owned enterprises, and affiliated institutions.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) has categorised DeepSeek AI as a Chinese ICT product, citing concerns that it may pose a national security risk due to potential data leaks.
Italy was one of the first countries to ban DeepSeek, citing the risk of data breaches for millions of Italians. The Italian authorities asked DeepSeek to confirm which personal data are collected, from which sources, and for what purposes.
Due to security concerns, South Korea’s government has temporarily blocked employees from using DeepSeek which is a Chinese artificial intelligence startup.
South Korea’s defense ministry has taken steps to restrict access to DeepSeek, a Chinese AI chatbot, on military computers connected to the internet, as per an AFP report.
China has condemned the move, criticising Australia for banning DeepSeek from government devices over security concerns.

The Chinese government have informed in a public statement that it “has never and will never require enterprises or individuals to illegally collect or store data.”
