Intel has introduced its 14th Generation Core desktop processors on Monday. The new chips, based on Intel”s existing Raptor Lake silicon, will be available globally via online/in-store retail and partner systems beginning October 17, 2023. The new lineup includes the Core i9-14900K/KF, the Core i7-14700K/KF, and the Core i5-14600K/KF.
Intel says that the latest-generation desktop processor family includes six new unlocked desktop processors at launch, delivering up to 24 cores and 32 threads and up to 6 GHz of frequency. Intel Core i9-14900K, focusing on hardcore gamers and performance enthusiasts, is at the top of the lineup. Intel claims that it is the world’s fastest desktop processor, with a 6 GHz speed. The i9-14900K comes with the same CPU core configuration as the previous Core i9-13900K chips. On the other hand, the Core i7-14700K processor features 20 cores and 28 threads. The Core i7 models have a base frequency of 3.4GHz and 2.5GHz for the primary and efficiency cores, respectively. Intel also has a refreshed Core i5. The Core i5 models comprise the Core i5-14600K and Core i5-14600KF. The i5-14600K is equipped a total of 20 cores.
Intel mentioned in its statement that its processors deliver incredible performance, are combined with the world’s best overclocking experience, and are also compatible with existing 600/700-series motherboards. Intel Core 14th Gen processors provide an enhanced gaming experience with up to 23% gaming performance uplift compared to its competitors, said Intel. The new models also come equipped with integrated support for Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as discrete support for the new Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless technologies. Alongside, the 14th Gen Core Series includes compatibility with Thunderbolt 4 and the upcoming Thunderbolt 5 wired connectivity.
The Core i9-14900K will be available for $589 (around Rs 49,000), and the Core i7-1700K comes with a price tag of $409 (around Rs 34,000). The Core i5-14600K is priced at $319 (around Rs 26,500). Roger Chandler, Intel vice president and general manager, Enthusiast PC and Workstation, Client Computing Group, said that Intel has consistently raised the bar for desktop performance with the launch of performance hybrid architecture. “With our Intel Core 14th Generation processors, we’re showing once again why enthusiasts turn to Intel for the best desktop experience available on the market today,” Roger Chandler added.
