Jabil, a key Apple supplier in India is planning to set up two more manufacturing units in India within three to four years, as per the reports on Friday. The company will invest an additional $250-$275 million in the new plants. The company already has a strong presence in India with two units in Pune producing WiFi, NFC, RFID, camera optics and power electronics. The new units will likely manufacture plastic casings for chargers, older iPhone models, AirPods and Apple Watch components. The company proposes to establish another unit in Tamil Nadu.
A Tamil Nadu government official said, “Jabil will expand due to growing demand for consumer electronics, home appliances, and e-mobility.” The new units might manufacture plastic casings for chargers, older iPhone models, AirPods, and Apple Watch components.

Jabil’s Indian unit, based in Pune, spans 858,000 sq ft and employs over 2,500 workers. The company started making AirPods components in India and shipping enclosures to China and Vietnam.
Other electronics manufacturers, such as Foxconn, Wistron, Tata Electronics, and Kaynes Technology have also expanded their Indian footprint. Foxconn plans to invest $1 billion in a smartphone display module assembly plant in Tamil Nadu. Recently, Jabil announced plans to invest INR 2,000 Cr (approximately $250 million) in an electronics manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy, creating 5,000 jobs.
