
Microsoft Layoffs Continue: 300 More Jobs Cut (image:x.com/Microsoft)
In a new set of layoffs, Microsoft has cut more than 300 jobs. This move comes just weeks after the tech industry executed its biggest workforce reduction in which it laid off more than 6,000 employees across its global workforce
The layoffs are part of “organisational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace,” Microsoft reportedly has said in its official statement.

The tech industry is on the brim of Artificial Intelligence (AI) – driven transformation due to the shifting trends in the tech labour market. Nowadays, companies are prioritising AI-focused jobs and leveraging the technology to save money.
As per the reports, the layoffs were significantly impacted software engineers and product managers, while less than 17 per cent of the affected workers were in management positions.

As of June last year, the tech industry has employed roughly 228,000 full-time with more than half of them based in the United States. Meanwhile, Microsoft‘s recent layoffs in Washington state alone amount to nearly 2,300 jobs.
Though the tech giant says the layoffs represent a small percentage of its workforce, the recurrent cuts signals how the focus of big tech industries are changing with the fast-paced evolution of AI. In current year alone, a large number of tech companies across Silicon Valley including Google, Meta, and Amazon have laid off thousands of employees.
