Two new features have been added to further enhance video calls, Touch Up and Low Light. Touch Up naturally glams up the look and brightness, while Low Light brightens up dark environments making users feel more confident and comfortable. Users can select the effects icon located at the top right of the screen during 1:1 or group video calls. This will open up the selection of filters and backgrounds which allow users to choose the one that suits their mood. WhatsApp said that these features will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.

Last week, Meta unveiled new features for Meta AI on WhatsApp which was announced at the Meta Connect event. These updates enable users to interact with the AI chatbot in innovative ways making conversations more engaging and productive. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the users can now have real-time conversations with Meta AI using voice mode which is similar to ChatGPT. Users can ask the AI chatbot questions and receive instant responses by pressing the waveform button.

Meta AI can now also analyse images sent by users and provide answers to related questions. For instance, sending a picture of a dish can prompt Meta AI to provide detailed cooking instructions. Additionally, users can share photos with Meta AI and request edits such as removing unwanted people, changing backgrounds or object colours, and more. Also, Meta has now introduced “Imagine Me” on WhatsApp where the user can change their profile picture to any superhero or wonder-like character.
