WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, introduced a new feature in which users can have two WhatsApp accounts logged in simultaneously on the same device. This feature was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg through his Facebook page. The multiple account feature is already available on Instagram and Facebook.
“Switch between two accounts on WhatsApp — Soon you”ll be able to have two WhatsApp accounts on one phone within the app,” Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook. Currently, this feature is only available for Android users. The multi-account login is expected to arrive on the app’s iOS version soon. Several users are using two WhatsApp accounts currently, either by downloading a cloning app on Android or through a WhatsApp Business account on iOS. The new feature will be very helpful for such users. WhatsApp mentioned in its blog post that the feature will be helpful for switching between accounts, such as work and personal, and users no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones, or worry about messaging from the wrong place.

To create a second account, users need a second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM. WhatsApp users need to open settings, click on the arrow next to their name, and then click “Add account”. The Meta-owned platform also mentioned that users can control their privacy and notification settings on each account. Meta also recommends that users use only the official WhatsApp application. “As a reminder, only use the official WhatsApp and don’t download imitations or fake versions as a way of getting more accounts on your phone,” WhatsApp mentioned in its blog. The platform also reminded users that messages are secure and private only when using the official WhatsApp.
