When you google where is the edge of the world, it would surprisingly usher to to a rocky village in Saudi Arabia. Known as ‘Edge of the World,’ the village stands at 1.131 meters height at the cliff of Tuwaik Mountain with its distinguishing dry soil-free surface. Located 100 kilometers away from the kingdom’s capital city, Riyadh, the spot is heaven for hiking enthusiasts and trekking lovers and an escape from the rush of the busy city, offering a memorable and rich experience.

It is said that the reason for the name ‘Edge of the World’ was the uninterrupted spectacular view of the horizon which one can enjoy standing atop the escarpment. As an adventurous view, the sightseers from atop the cliffs can see the long desert view with its bare features. The visitor will also get glimpses of the samar trees and acacias spreading over the desert valley. One can also witness the ghodi trees and pole plants as they cover the majority of the high fixed sand dunes.

The carved mountains which stood against the time were also an enthralling vision for the explorers. They can also discover some snails and marine life fossils in the area, which is there to educate the tourists that it was once a marine habitat. The scenic desert oasis is also a UNESCO World Heritage site with several ancient ruins of Hegra, an archaeological site left practically undisturbed for almost 2,000 years. It features more than 100 tombs carved into rock formations and other remains of the bygone civilizations.

The best season to embark on an exciting trip to the End of the World will be the winter as it would be hot during other seasons, and the ideal time to reach the top of the cliff is during sunrise or sunset.
