Thousands of Domioselle cranes take shelter in Rajasthan after crossing Siberia and Himalayas. Reportedly, the cranes coming from Mongolia. In late September, the first flocks of the birds take to the skies from the plateaus, steppes and wetlands of Mongolia and the Caucasus region. Reportedly, they cover the 5,000-kilometre journey in about two weeks, flying across many international frontiers and soaring over the Himalaya. By November thousands of birds are expected to land and for five months Kheechan becomes a ‘crane village’. The people in teh region will protect and feed their guests as has been for past years.
