UPSC Aspirants' Death In Delhi Edited by

In the Parliament today, senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor raised the issue of UPSC aspirants’ death in Delhi on Saturday.

“I have just visited the hospital and met the uncle of the boy from Kerala, who unfortunately lost his life over the weekend. It’s a shocking situation and I have to say that when you have a brilliant student, all the dreams of serving the nation have been shattered,” Mr Tharoor said in the Lok Sabha.

He added that this is a matter which obviously calls for a compensation but no amount can be enough for the tragic loss of life of a young man cut short in his prime.

“There are a number of serious issues that need to be addressed. There is sadly a level of violation of basic norms when it comes to building codes, fire safety, flood safety, and so on; there is rampant in the city, the corporation also has a responsibility on this. The most important issue, I say this on behalf of the family as well, to prevent such future tragedies. For this, there has to be a comprehensive enquiry but there also has to be very specific steps taken to ensure that there are no other parents coming to our National Capital from various parts of the country suffer such loss and tragedies,” the Congress leader said.
