Ahmedabad, Gujarat: A London-bound Air India flight crashed in the Meghani Nagar area, near to Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The crash took place between 1:00 and 2:00 pm. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating as Flight AI171 to London Gatwick crashed shortly after taking off from the airport.

A total of 242 individuals were on board, comprising passengers, two pilots, and ten cabin crew members. Of those on board, 169 were Indian citizens, 53 British, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese. Following the plane crash, all flight operations at Ahmedabad airport were temporarily halted.
