Abu Ubaida, The Spearhead Of "Psychological War Against Israel"
Ever since October 7, 2023, Abu Ubaida is a name that has been resonating from Palestine and the Palestine supporters. Abu Ubaida has raised to be a sensation to Hamas supporters across the globe – a hero for several of Palestinians and Hamas supporters in the Arab and Western nations and a sworn enemy of Israel. He is also known as the spearhead of “psychological war against Israel”.
After the commander of Al-Qassam Brigades, Muhammed Al-Deif, declared the Al-Aqsa storm on October 7th, Abu Ubaida often appeared in video released by Hamas, speaking about updates on what the resistance group has been doing in the current bloody war, with his face covered in red kaffiyeh (traditional headdress worn by people of Middle East),
Abu Ubaida is an incognito identity of spokesperson of Izzathaddin Al-Qassam Brigades, a military wing of Palestinian political and resistance group Hamas. Abu Ubaida is not his actual name. His actual name is unknown. Nothing about the leader’s identity is known. In 2014, Israel media shared a picture and details claiming it to be about Abu Ubaida.
The name revealed by Israeli media was Hudaifa Samir Abdullah al-Kahloot. Israeli occupation force spokesperson Avichay Adraee revealed the alleged information about Abu Ubaida and called him a “liar and coward”. The Al-Qassam denied the authenticity of the picture and details.
Zamnpress, an Arabic media quoted sources from Al-Qassam Brigades speaking about the incident as, “Abu Ubaida’s face is known only to a few. It has not and will not appear to the media. For years, the occupation army has been trying in various ways to reach him”.
The masked leader presented a master thesis on ‘The Holy Land between Judaism, Christianity. And Islam’ at the Islamic University from the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion. No further credible information about him is known.
The name Abu Ubaida started to echo from Palestine since 2006. He spoke in ace in front of all the media, but never uncovered is face, taking up the path of former Al-Qassam leader Imad Aqel, who was killed by the Israelis in 1993.
After the retreat of Israeli occupation from Gaza in 2005, Abu Ubaida was officially appointed as spokesperson of Al-Qassam Brigades, before that he was one of the filed officials of the resistance group. According to information sourced from Israel, he was hailed from Naalia of Gaza which was occupied by Israel in 1948. It is said that, currently he lives in Jabalia, northeast of Gaza, though authenticity of the information is not confirmed yet.
Israel claims to bomb his house during every war that erupted between the occupation force and Hamas resistance group, during 2008, 20212, 2014 and during the current brutal genocidal war on the civilians of Palestine.
The “unprecedented” attack on Israel from Hamas caught the occupation force off-guard. After the brutal and indiscriminate genocide unleashed on the besieged enclave of Gaza – of 20 kilometres width and 40 kilometres length – for more than one month, the Israeli occupation force, which owns the title of most sophisticated defence system, could not pin point the leaders of Hamas, whom Israel and all its allies including US and UK designated as terrorists, and the hostages kept by the resistance group. All this adds up to the reputation brough in by the name Abu Ubaida, the spearhead of “psychological war against Israel”.
