'Gaza Board Of Peace': All You Need To Know
The United States President Donald Trump announced the Gaza Board of Peace on January 17, 2025, to fulfill Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza. The board of peace will oversee the implementation of the next phase of the ceasefire in Gaza to end Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
US-led Board of Peace will be a three-tiered power structure comprising billionaires and figures close to Israel at the top. Donald Trump will chair the board and the board members who retain veto power.
Washington has framed it as a roadmap for ‘reconstruction and prosperity’, but the exclusion of Palestinians from the top decision-making body suggests they will have little say in deciding the future governance structure. Experts warn it resembles a ‘commercial trusteeship’.
As per the abcNEWS report, the board members will contribute $1 billion to secure permanent membership on the Trump-led board.
