Gaza Ceasefire: Hamas Releases First Seven Hostages, 13 Others To Be Released Today

Isrrael has reiceved seven living hostages released by Hamas on Monday, following the ceasefire deal announced last week. At least 13 other hostages are to be freed today, reports Al Jazeera. The militant group had ealier stated that it would release 20 living hostages held in the Gaza Strip in exchange for over 1,900 Palestinian prisoners, as per the deal.

The military said it had the seven hostages after they were handed over by the International Committee of the Red Cross. The hostages will cross into Israel and be transferred to a military base to be reunited with their families.

The released hostages include Matan Angrest, brothers Gali and Ziv Berman, Alon Ohel, Eitan Mor, Omri Miran, and Guy Gilboa-Dalal.

Hamas would reportedly releases a total of 48 hostages. As per the deal, Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank wait for the release of nearly 2,000 people from Israeli jails.

Palestinian Red Crescent crews have entered Israel’s Ofer prison to transport a sick prisoner who is scheduled to be released today.

As per a report by Al Jazeera, several buses with Israeli flags and vehicles with flashing lights are being seen outside Israel’s Ofer military prison, in the occupied West Bank, where many of the Palestinian prisoners due to be released today are being held.
