Who Are Doghmush, The Group Clashing With Hamas In Gaza After Israel's Withdrawal?

Soon after Israel began to withdrew its force from Gaza after the ceasefire deal, a new group has began fighting the Hamas military group in the war-raveged strip.

According to reports, a clan reportedly Doghmush has starting fighting the Hamas security forces in the Strip on last Sunday, with some reports claiming that the group was affiliated with Israel, though sources from Gaza denies such claims.

There are several powerful clans and figures inside Gaza who has animosity with Hamas for the past few years. One such is Doghmush, a large family, which has members in various factions across the political spectrum in Gaza.

As the group began to attack Hamas since Friday’s ceasefire took hold, the latter has sought to reassert itself, confroting the threat and thus policing the shattered enclave.

According to the Sahem unit, an armed unit affiliated with the Interior Ministry, the clashes started on Saturday when an outlaw gang killed resistance fighters from the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, near the Jordan Field Hospital in Gaza City. Following this, around 300 Hamas fighters stormed a residential block where Doghmush gunmen were holed up, launching military campaign against the group and killing several members of it.

According to the Interior Ministry, eight Hamas members and 19 clan members were killed.
