Drone Strikes Damage Libya's Largest Zawiya Oil Refinery, Facility At Risk Of Shutting Down
Zawiya, Libya: A drone has struck Zawiya refinery, one of the Libya’s Largest Oil Refineries located in the Zawiya refinery west of Tripoli. The attack hit the oil blending plant, a naphtha tank, the desalination plant, and a 4.5-million-liter gasoline tank, sparking fire and then the collapse.
The facility processes around 120,000-barrel-per-day. Following the attack. the National Oil Corporation declared a maximum state of emergency, with operations continuing so far. According to Libya’s Ambulance and Emergency Service, there were no “serious injuries” from the fire, with most patients treated for smoke inhalation.

However, the operation is at the risk of complete shut down if the attack persists. The authorities have evacuated residents nearby to safe location as precaution. In a separate Benghazi incident, Maj. Gen. Fawzi al-Mansouri, military intelligence chief for eastern forces, died in a car bombing outside his home.
