What US, UK And Other Western Countries Said On Iran's Drone Attack On Israel

As predicted by many, Iran launched a drone and missile strike against Israel in retaliation to the Israeli attack on its Damascus consulate on April 1. Iran military establishment has claimed that the IRGC’s Aerospace Division has launched tens of missiles and drones against certain targets inside the occupied territories.

Responding the news of launching of missile and drones towards Israel, the Israeli Defence Forces said “Together with our partners, the IDF is operating at full force to defend the State of Israel—and the people of Israel. This is a mission that we are determined and ready to fulfill.”

Israel”s major allied from West have come out in support against the Iran attack.

United States

Here is the statement from NSC spokesperson Adrienne Watson:

“Iran has begun an airborne attack against Israel. President Biden is being regularly updated on the situation by his national security team and will meet with them this afternoon at the White House. His team is in constant communication with Israeli officials as well as other partners and allies. This attack is likely to unfold over a number of hours. President Biden has been clear: our support for Israel”s security is ironclad. The United States will stand with the people of Israel and support their defense against these threats from Iran.”

United Kingdom

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said:

“I condemn in the strongest terms the Iranian regime”s reckless attack against Israel. Iran has once again demonstrated that it is intent on sowing chaos in its own backyard. The UK will continue to stand up for Israel”s security and that of all our regional partners, including Jordan and Iraq. Alongside our allies, we are urgently working to stabilise the situation and prevent further escalation. No one wants to see more bloodshed.”

France

French government said:

“France strongly condemns the attack launched by Iran against Israel. Its decision to take such an unprecedented action is another step up by Iran in its destabilizing actions, and it risks a military escalation. France reaffirms its attachment to Israel”s security and assures it that it will stand by its side.”

Canada

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued the following statement on the attacks:

“Canada unequivocally condemns Iran’s airborne attacks against Israel. We stand with Israel. After supporting Hamas’ brutal October 7 attack, the Iranian regime’s latest actions will further destabilize the region and make lasting peace more difficult. These attacks demonstrate yet again the Iranian regime’s disregard for peace and stability in the region. We support Israel’s right to defend itself and its people from these attacks. I am receiving regular updates from the National Security and Intelligence Advisor, the Chief of the Defence Staff, and the Clerk of the Privy Council as the situation develops. We are in contact with allies, and we will continue to monitor closely.”

European Union

Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of European Commission, said:

“The EU strongly condemns the unacceptable Iranian attack against Israel. This is an unprecedented escalation and a grave threat to regional security.”
