Israel has attacked Lebanon again. In a drone attack on a car near southern Lebanon’s Tyre, Israeli military claimed that the attack successfully assassinated an important operative of Hezbollah, Ali Abd Ali. Hezbollah has confirmed that Ali Nazih Abd Ali had been killed on its Telegram channel.

Hezbollah is preparing for a “broader and deeper” attacks on targets, says Iran’s Permanent mission to the United Nations, as per media report. In response to the question of quality of Hezbollah’s retaliation against Israel’s targeted killing of Fuad Shukr, the mission said, “Hezbollah will choose both broader and deeper targets”. Spokesperson to the mission stressed that the ‘target’ would be ‘within’ Israel.

“Until now, Hezbollah and the regime have, in an unwritten understanding, practically adhered to certain limits in their military operations, meaning that confining their actions to border areas and shallow zones, targeting primarily military objectives,” a spokesperson for the mission said, as quoted by Press TV.

Fuad Shukur was assassinated hours before Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated. Haniyeh was attacked in Tehran. In a fiery speech broadcast at the funeral of Shukr on Thursday, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah said Israel had “crossed a red line” and must brace for a stern response.

He said Tel Aviv must expect “rage and revenge on all the fronts supporting Gaza.” Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has warned Israel of a “harsh response” for the assassination, saying it is the Islamic Republic’s duty to avenge the blood of the resistance leader.

“It won’t be long before the rogue and racist Israeli regime reaps the whirlwinds of anger and fire from the justice-seeking nations and governments of the world”, wrote Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Nasser Kana’ani on his X.
