US Warns Massive Retaliation If Qatar's LNG Is Hit Again, Asks Israel Not To Terget Iran Energy Sites
US president Donald Trump has denied any American involvement in the strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field. The US assured there will be no more strikes on Iranian energy facilities by Israel after Iran retaliated against Qatar’s and Saudi Arabia’s energy infrastructures.
Noting that it had no prior information about Israel attacking Iran’s South Pars gas field, the US blamed Tel Aviv for what he said was acting out of anger and triggering Tehran’s retaliation.
Iran struck world’s largest LNG field located in Qatar’s Ras Laffan City. The attack has caused extensive damage to the Pearl GTL facility, triggering massive fire and damages, QatarEnergy confirmed.
The attack follows Israel powerful strike in Iran’s South Pars, the the world’s largest natural gas field, with an estimated 1,800 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas, enough to meet global demand for more than a decade. It accounts for nearly three-fourths of Iran’s gas production.
