The move came as the US has been resorting to strict immigration policies since Trump took charge as president. As per the External Ministry, at least 388 Indians have been deported from the US, mostly in February this year. “If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your program of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future U.S. visas. Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” the post read.

On Thursday, US District Judge Jeffrey S. White in Oakland issued an injunction preventing the government from arresting, incarcerating, or relocating students based solely on their visa status after the Trump administration revoked visas and deported thousands of foreign students enrolled in American universities.

Giving major relief to the foreign students, a federal judge called the administration’s efforts disruptive and likely unlawful. It is reported that the administration has canceled the visas of over 4,700 international students with little notice or explanation.

The Trump administration has been cracking down on immigration, especially international students, for various reasons, including violating visa terms, engaging in criminal activity, and participating in pro-Palestinian protests. Authorities have stated that there are anti-American people on the campuses, and have been haunting Harvard, accusing it of nurturing violence and antisemitism.
