Hegseth Struggles To Answer Journalist's 'Why You Fired Army Chief' Question During Media Interaction

Washington DC, United States: United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth struggled to answer a question regarding the reasons why he fired top military officers, including the army chief.

During the media interaction, when the reporter asked Hegseth if he knew how many army generals he had fired, the defense secretary replied he did not know the number. The journalist then said it was eight, while asking why they were fired from their post. To which, Hegseth said the decision was at the pleasure of President Trump.

The journalist explained he asked why they were fired and not who was fired. The defense chief repeated the same answer, without being able to explain the reason why the top military commanders were removed from their posts before the due date.

“Stop. You can just tell me why, and you probably learned what ‘why’ means,” the reporter reprimanded Hegseth in the viral video.
