A Twist In Shazia Ilmi Story: "Will Take You To Court"

Responding to India Today journalist Rajdeep Sardesai‘s post about BJP spokesperson  Shazia Ilmi, BJP IT cell head Amit Malvia said that releasing the video while the guest lady is unwiring is nothing short of sexual assault. Earlier, the senior journalist had shared a video of the BJP spokesperson allegedly abusing his video journalist during an interview.

The video showed the politician misbehaving with the journalist after her fader was allegedly lowered during the live debate on the channel. Reacting to a post by Shazia Ilmi addressing the journalist asking not to ever bring down her fader again, Rajdeep had said that the fader was lowered only to avoid cross-talk and noise on the show. “If you have a grouse with me or with an army general on the show, of course, that’s your prerogative. And I respect that too,” the senior journalist wrote, underscoring that abusing his video journalist or throwing him out was not just done, and there was no excuse for the bad behaviour.

However, things took another when Shazia threatened the journalist with legal action, and in a video, Shazia is heard saying that she would take him to court.

Replying to Rajdeep’s post defending his cameraman, Amit Malvia said that continuing to shoot a guest after the show is over or after withdrawing consent to be part of it is a gross violation of the contract. “The pervert must be called out for violating @shaziailmi’s privacy and bodily integrity,” Amit Malvia wrote on X.

“Shaziamili’s account is devastating. She has a fracture and is wheelchair-bound. Rajdeep Sardesai is accusing a woman, who can barely walk, of assaulting the cameraman! The pervert LIED, put out her video and is now imputing motives for her protest. Shame,” Malvia wrote in a follow-up post.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Jai Hind also lambasted the journalist for allegedly recording the video after the guest chose to get off the show, adding that even more shameful was to release the footage. “This is a serious offence! In the past @sardesairajdeep has abused me & called me “low level cretin” & followed me aggressively out of the studio… He has also got my bytes/reactions boycotted on @IndiaToday after that,” Shehzad wrote in a post on X.

The development was unfurled following a heated debate between Shazia and Rajdeep Sardesai during an interview on July 26. As the argument peaked, the BJP spokesperson walked out of the interview, removing her mic.
