Can Maria Corina Machado Transfer Her Nobel Peace Prize To Trump?

María Corina Machado, Venezuelan opposition leader, has presented her Nobel Peace Prize medal to US President Donald Trump.

“I presented the president of the United States with the medal of the Nobel Peace Prize. a recognition for his unique commitment with our freedom”, Machado said.

“I think today is a historic day for us Venezuelans,” she said after meeting Trump, the first time the two have met in-person.

She did not clarify if he accepted it at the private White House meeting on Thursday.

Machado said last week that she would share it with Trump; however, the Nobel Committee later clarified that it was not transferable.

Following the gesture, the US President Donald Trump heaped praise on Venezuela opposition leader for presenting him with her ‘Nobel Peace Prize’ for the work done by him.

Trump has confirmed later on social media that Machado had left the medal for him to keep and he said it was an honor to meet her.
