The ex-spokesperson had served as one of the public faces of former President Joe Biden’s staunch support for Israel as it killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and flattened much of the enclave.

Miller also during the podcast had criticised his own pattern of answering questions. “We do know that Israel has opened investigations. But, look, we are many months into those investigations. And we’re not seeing really soldiers held accountable,” he said. Moreover, Miller said that he was not advocating his own opinion but expressing the official stance of Biden’s administration.

“You are a spokesperson for the president, the administration, and you espouse the positions of the administration,” he said. “And when you’re not in the administration, you can just give your own opinions.”

During his time as the spokesperson, there were several instances at which he had clashed with the journalists who questioned the US response to Israel’s handling of Gaza. In one of the incidents, Miller was rebuked for laughing during a question of Israel blocking aid in Gaza. According to US law, it prohibits security assistance to any state that restricts US-backed humanitarian aid in conflict zones.
