Indians Assaulted Abroad Halved; Max Cases Reported In Sri Lanka

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released its parliamentary paper on the number of incidents of attacks/assaults on Indians in foreign countries since 2022. As per the data released by the MEA, the number of assaults on Indians has reduced to 50 in 2025 from 107 last year and 109 in 2024.

Sri Lanka, Russia, and the Philippines are the countries with the highest assault cases on Indians, numbering 9, 6, and 6, respectively.  The data suggest a lower number of assault cases were observed in African countries in comparison to Western countries. In Kenya and Madagascar, no assaults were seen in the last four years.

The record shows that Sri Lanka, USA, Russia, Phillippines, UK, UAE and Canada have been countires with highest number of assaults in the past consecutive years.

As per the data released a substantial number of assault cases reduction was observed in UK, US, Sri Lanka in the three consecutive years. However, in UAE the number remained high. Notably in Kenya, Krygyzstan and Bulgaria no cases of assaults were registered in the last four years.
