A video resurfaced on social media ‘X’ where huge stretches of students queuing up for the waiter and servant jobs can be seen. The visuals are reportedly from Brampton, Canada, where 3000 students, mostly Indians, came to drop their resumes after an advertisement for a new restaurant opening. This video has raised many questions about the situation of Indian students in Canada.

Many students leave India to study abroad especially in Canada with dreams of exploring new avenues of learning and rosy expectations of a high standard of life. As per the Ministry of External Affairs data in 2022, a total of 13,24,954 Indian students were studying abroad with the US, Canada, Australia, UAE, and the UK as the top destinations.  This number just went up by 4.5 times in less than 10 years.

The video reminds the status of unemployment in India also where reports have come in the past of graduates and even PhD degree holderes were seen queuing up for the posts of peon. The similar situation could be seen in Canada which has already decided to put curbs on Indian students intake in the upcoming academic session.
