Prime Minister Mark Carney-Led Liberal Party Wins Canada Election 2025
Ottawa, Canada: Canada’s Liberal Party has won the 2025 Canada elections for another term, ruling out the possibility of the opposition Conservatives’ populist leader Pierre Poilievre securing victory. Prime Minister Mark Carney-led party had fears of declining popularity amid rising issues surrounding its decade-long governance.
The election comes months after former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepped down earlier this year amid a decline in popularity for several reasons, including food and housing prices and soaring immigration.

As per reports from the local media, it is still unclear if the Liberals can secure a majority on their own. Though it was believed that there was anti-incumbency against the liberal party, the party could win for the fourth term, banking on fear over US President Donald Trump’s aggressive trade policies. The party rallied support, urging people to vote as a choice between unity and vulnerability.
Earlier, the US president had shared a map incorporating Canada as its territory, making the neighbouring country as US’s 51st state. The Republican leader had also threatened to use economic force to absorb Canada into the US, to the surprise of the world.
While liberal leader Carney is banking on his central banking experience to counter threats, Conservative leader Poilievre blamed past Liberal governance for exposing Canada to US economic pressure and policies.
As per the latest updates, the Liberal Party has won 162 seats, while the Conservatives secured 149 and the Bloc Québécois 23.
