After The Times Magazine and New York Times, The Economist use featured an image as their cover photo with reference to the upcoming Presidential election in US. The magazine used an image of the U.S. presidential seal affixed to a walker mobility aid for seniors to which allegedly is a sharp criticism on President Joe Biden.

The cover story of the magazine, titled “Why Biden Must Withdraw,” called Biden’s first presidential debate performance “awful” and “agony to watch.” It argued that the “cover-up has been worse,” condemning the Biden campaign’s attempt to “deny what tens of millions of Americans saw with their own eyes”.

On its editorial page, New York Times wrote an article titled as, “To Serve His Country, President Biden Should Leave the Race”. It said that “the greatest public service [Biden] can now perform is to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election”.

“The president appeared on Thursday night as the shadow of a great public servant,” it said. “He struggled to explain what he would accomplish in a second term. He struggled to respond to (Trump’s) provocations. He struggled to hold (Trump) accountable for his lies, his failures and his chilling plans. More than once, he struggled to make it to the end of a sentence… Biden is not the man he was four years ago”, it said.

Apart from New York Times, Time magazine also called out Biden for his fumbles. In its new cover photo, the magazine featured Biden walking away and disappearing off the edge of the Time Magazine cover. The magazine captioned it with the word “panic”. The meaning behind the usage of the world ‘panic’ was reportedly attributed to what the US political commentators had described the mood inside the Democratic Party after Biden’s debate.

The 81-year-old Biden will turn 82, on November 20th, two weeks after the presidential election. Biden and Trump, who is 78-years-old is the two of the oldest candidates to run for the US presidential election ever. The debate exacerbated Biden’s cognitive decline. He appears to freeze during a question about national debt.
