For month, US President Joe Biden has been at the end of scrutiny with many opining that Biden is slipping due to his old age. The allegations of his mental health decline has allegedly been clearly evident from his verbal fumbles during the first debate ahead of the presidential election against Donald Trump.

It has become very evident to the point that Times magazine, a major US publication, which featured Biden in its cover photo. Issued a day after Biden’s debate with Trump ahead of the Presidential election due in November, the cover picture featured Biden walking away and disappearing off the edge of the Time Magazine cover. The magazine captioned it with the word “panic”.

The meaning behind the usage of the world ‘panic’ was reportedly attributed to what the US political commentators had described the mood inside the Democratic Party after Biden’s debate.

The 81-year-old Biden will turn 82, on November 20th, two weeks after the presidential election. Biden and Trump, who is 78-years-old is the two of the oldest candidates to run for the US presidential election ever. The debate exacerbated Biden’s cognitive decline. He appears to freeze during a question about national debt.

“(We’re) making sure that we’re able to make every single solitary person … er, eligible for what I’ve been able to do with the … uh … with the Covid. Excuse me, with, dealing with everything we had to do with … uh … look”. He completer with saying “we finally beat Medicare” after a brief pause.

A day after the debate, he addressed a rally in North Carolina, in which he said, “I know I’m not a young man. I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t talk as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to. Well, I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. I know, like millions of Americans, when you get knocked down, you get back up”.

At the same time, former US President and Biden’s rival, Donald Trump said that Biden was “grossly incompetent” and a “trainwreck”.

As per CNN flash poll, taken straight after the debate, 67 per cent of registered voters said Mr Trump had won the debate. Prior to the debate, 55 per cent of the voters had expected Mr Trump to prevail.
