Trump Tariffs Western Allies To Pressurise Greenland Deal; Leaders Call It Unacceptable

US President Donald Trump has announced a series of Tariffs on his Western allies, including France, Germany, the UK, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Finland. As per Trump’s social media account, he has shared the information about the imposition of a 10% tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States from these countries, from February 1, 2026.

On June 1, 2026, the tariff will be increased to 25%, wrote Trump. US President says that these Western countries have played a very dangerous game, and have put a level of risk in play that is not sustainable. So, it is necessary to take strong measures to end the perilous situation.

As per Donald Trump’s statement, this tariff will be due and payable until the total and complete purchase of Greenland is reached. “United States has been trying to do this transaction for over 150 years. But Denmark has always refused”, Trump said.

He further added that due to the Golden Dome and Modern Day Weapons Systems, the need to acquire the Greeland has become important.

Trump has invited Denmark and other countries to negotiate for the protection of the US.

As per Donald Trump, Russia and China have secured their presence in Greenland and had said earlier that if the US does not take over Greenland, Russia and China will.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the move is “completely wrong”, while French President Emmanuel Macron calls it “unacceptable”.
