Washington DC, US: On July 13, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a popping sound resounded among the crowd. Donald Trump touched his ear and revealed blood on it. In the span of a few seconds, he was dropped to the stage floor, surrounded by Secret Service agents. A lone gunman had fired at US presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump.
As the rally descended into chaos and screams and shouts rang out, Trump was helped back to his feet and was escorted from the stage. He raised his fist in the air, shouting “fight, fight, fight,” now one of the most iconic images in US political history. 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks is killed by security agents.

The assassination attempt had changed the air. The US population was as divisive as ever. Many feared that the incident would sway people in favour of the Republican candidate in the November election. And it appears that it did turn out to be true.
Several voters expressed their change of heart after the July 13 event. Soon after, on September 15, Trump is allegedly the target of another assassination attempt. This time, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested after Secret Service agents opened fire near the boundary of Trump’s golf course.
The incidents set off a rallying cry for his re-election campaign. Making his return to Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump appeared with a bandaged ear on stage and received a rapturous welcome. Across social media, there was a rise of supporters who expressed their loyalty to the Republican candidate.
Donald Trump had become a national hero among his supporters.
With chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. and SpaceX, Elon Musk on board as well, the Trump campaign was off for victory.

The close-knitted fight in swing states, including Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin and North Carolina are closed. Trump won Florida, which has heavily shifted towards Republicans recently.
He won Texas, South Carolina, Indiana, Georgia and North Carolina. He is also ahead in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Nevada. Meanwhile, as the Republican candidate closes in on victory, Kamala Harris cancelled her election night speech. Based on early projections, Donald Trump is set to potentially make his return to the White House.
