What Is Trump's Flagship 'One Big Beautiful Bill' Passed By US Congress?
The US President Donald Trump has secured a major political victory after the US Congress passed his flagship tax and spending bill, ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’. The bill is said to be cementing his radical second-term agenda and boosting funds for the anti-immigration drive. The mega-bill supports Donald Trump’s major policy priorities and also argues to have an impact on lower-income Americans.
After the bill had been passed, Donald Trump said it was “one of the most consequential bills ever and called the US the ‘HOTTEST’ country in the world by far.
The Senate bill will see a tax cut of $4.5 trillion. It makes the 2017 Trump-era tax rates permanent, adding new cuts, such as eliminating taxes on tips.
It rolls back billions of dollars in green energy tax credits.
The bill also includes $1.2 trillion in cuts to social welfare programs like Medicaid and food stamps, which is going to impact both the low-income citizens and the legal residents, including asylum-seekers and refugees..
Moreover, the bill allocates $350 billion for border and national security efforts, including deportations. Some of this funding will come from new fees imposed on immigrants.
The bill also raises the debt ceiling and adds over $3 trillion to the deficit.
The bill cuts $35 billion over 10 years and limits federal health program eligibility based on citizenship status.
